Tuesday's Top Ten Wines

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 by Lizan Brand

Here at the State Street Exchange we love to offer quality, reasonably priced wines that you will not find around other places in town, and may not have heard about.  What are these favorites?  Here you go:

        #1  Alamos Malbec  $10.89
This is a great malbec and a fabulous wine for the money.  It is no surprise to those who have tried this why it is our #1!  Here are the wine maker's notes...       The 2006 Alamos Malbec presents a deep, opaque violet color with purple hues. The nose is intense and complex, with ripe black fruits, sweet spice and a touch of violets. The mouthfeel is sweet and supple, with black cherry and cassis flavors mingled with spicy black pepper and a touch of leather. The finish is long and persistent with soft, sweet tannins.

Here are the others who make up our top ten:

        #2  Enotria Muscato
        #3  Graziano Zinfandel
        #4  Castle Rock Merlot
        #5  Saracco Muscato d'asti
        #6  Monte Volpe Pinot Grigio
        #7  Yalumba Antique Tawny Port
        #8  Odjfeld Armador Carmenere
        #9  Bricco Riella Moscato
        #10  Tie...
                 Fat Bastard Chardonnay
                 Cuvee D' Pena
                 Nahuel Pinot Noir
