The latest addtion to our Tequila department:  Hussongs Reposada Tequila!

The first review I read about this tequila was about a new bar in St. Paul that offers over 130 tequila's.  On the bartender's recommendation, they poured Hussongs Reposada and was not disappointed!    This is an ultra smooth tequila and comes in a distinctive old style bottle.
"Yellow-gold. Sweet powdered fruit nose. A round supple attack lead to a medium-to full-bodied palate with deeply roasted agave and grilled fruit and pepper notes f followed by a wave of peppery oak and spice. Big and brawny with a sophisticated edge."

With the success of Fat Tire Ale, we have also added two other brews from New Belgium!

Available in 22 oz bottles, we have added the 1554 Enlighten Black Ale.  This is a one of a kind delight!  This is a refreshing dark beer that pours almost black.  It has a nose of chocolate, carmel and coffee with tastes very similar with a sweet finish.  To quote a review in Beer Advocate "To me, it's as if a Impy Stout and a Belgium Trappist had a delicious 22oz baby."

The Mothership has landed at State Street Exchange.
Here is the information from New Belgium....
Our first venture into organically-produced beer, Mothership Wit Organic Wheat Beer elevates the zesty Wit or White beers of Belgium. Our far-flung Beer Rangers affectionately refer to our Fort Collins brewery as the Mothership, a name that conjures images of earth shot from space and the interconnectivity of it all. Mothership Wit is brewed with wheat and barley malt, as well as coriander and orange peel spicing resulting in a balance of citrus and sour flavors held in suspension by a bright burst of carbonation.

Pampero Aniversario Rum
This delicious rum is new in our store!  It comes in a great little suede bag that could be used later on.  Reminds me of what I used to keep my marbles in!

A pampero is a vicious squall that strikes throughout the Pampas of South America. Its forceful winds bring extreme humidity, severe rains and powerful thunderstorms in its path. The pampero may be intense, yet it creates the perfect climate to produce the rum of the same name. It's this climate, the scorching heat of South America helps Pampero age faster — creating a bold and distinct rum with irrepressible flavor

Pampero Aniversario has a complex and rich taste, with notes of brown sugar and cocoa. Savor it slowly, neat or on the rocks.

According to Tastings.com  This is really special!
"Dark chestnut. Full bodied. Reminiscent of butterscotch, pipe tobacco, coffee, black walnut. Rich, creamy texture. So smooth and deep, one may be tempted to use a spoon. Has a buttery, thick feel with lovely, baked, layered flavors. A world class, slow sipping spirit. Just match it with a rich Churchill!" - Rated 96, Beverage Tasting Institute (www.tastings.com)

For a change of pace, we are tasting a delicious cold micro brew beer this weekend.   Here at the State Street Exchange, we have the area's largest assortment of micro brew beers, imports and special domestics.  Our collection of specialty beers tops over 150!!  So, stop driving to Indianapolis and come see us!

Our choices for tonight come from the Shiner Brewery in Shiner, TX.  Our two selections are their Shiner Black and the Shiner Hefeweizen.  Both retail for $8.49 and are great beers!  The Hefeweizen is a crisp, delicious true wheat beer.  Don't be afraid of the Dark....the Black is very smooth and not overpoweringly strong.  It's rich flavors are delicious!

Here is the word on both from Shiner:

Shiner Black

Bohemian Black Lager, crafted according to exacting old-world standards with imported Czech Saaz, Styrians Hops and selected roasted malts, is the darkest beer we brew. Initially added to the Shiner family as our 97 Anniversary Brew, the unique and complex flavor of this rare brew found such a following among our customers that we brought it back for good!
Beer Specs:  Alcohol content- 4.9%, Bitterness-18 IBU, Color-50 SRM

Shiner Hefeweizen

Hefeweizen (Hef-ay-vite-zen) recalls the classic beers of Bavaria as a true unfiltered wheat brew. This beer captures old-world Munich Malt, wheat grist used in a scant 1% of all brews worldwide, orange and lemon zest in a frothy classic example of bottle-conditioned beer. Adding clover honey and yeast just before it's bottled touches off a unique, secondary fermentation process inside every keg and bottle before its final release from the brewery.
Beer Specs:  Alcohol content-5.4%, Bitterness-17 IBU, Color-6 SRM

No, this has nothing to do with the Oct-Mom in California....but I can relate having four daughters of my own!

7 Daughters White Wine7 Daughters Wines are a new addition to State Street Exchange.  I opened these delights last week at our weekly tasting on Thursday evenings from 5-8pm.

7 Daughters represents the seven different grapes blended to make two unique wines, a white and a red.

The 7 Daughters White boasts French Colombard, Chardonnay, Riesling, Symphony,  Orange Muscat, Gewurztraminer and Sauvigon Blanc.  The nose on this wine is a bit of citrus, melon and apricot.  The citrus continues on the palate with a pleasant, very lightly sweet quality and a hint of spice.  I really enjoyed the blend of grapes and can definitely see this nicely chilled on a spring/summer evening!  With a price tag of $13.69 is an affordable treat!

7 Daughters Red Wine blend is another unique blend7 Daughters Red Wine
of seven grapes:  Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet
Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah, Carignare and Sangiovese.
The nose here is blackberry with hints of lavender and vanilla.  The taste is interesting with red fruit...from blackberries to cherries.  The syrah comes through with a closing note of spice on the finish.
The feel of the blend is light  and very drinkable.  I enjoyed this with salmon after the tasting!

Even with the price of gas back into reasonable territory, I want to share Greenfield's best kept wine and liquor secret with you...it's the State Street Exchange!

Greenfield Liquors, product reviews:

Ok, I must admit, I am definitely partial to the name Lucy, but we have a great new product here at the State Street Exchange,
                  from Prichard's Distillery!
   Sweet Lucy

Sweet Lucy is a bourbon based liqueur infused with apricot and orange with it's own special story.  Here is the word from Prichard's....

Prichard’s Sweet Lucy Bourbon Liqueur:  Sweet Lucy’s legacy has been flowing up and down the Mississippi flyway for years.  This bourbon based formula is blended with apricot / orange and it has warmed the body and soul of outdoors men for years.
We’re not sure how long the name Sweet Lucy has been around but it was probably born in the duck blind.  Many a duck hunter knows what a Sweet Lucy is.  As the ducks fly over and one or two are knocked down, sending the retriever is sometimes followed by reaching in the pocket and withdrawing a concoction necessary to fight the chill of a cold winter morning and taking a sip.  Body and soul now enjoying a warm feeling, a clap of the hands and a shout, “Sweet Lucy!!” is not an uncommon reaction
.

You will notice the Ducks Unlimited logo on the bottle and will be pleased to know that Prichard's Distillery makes a donation for every bottle purchased!  For more information from Ducks Unlimited,
see their website www.ducks.org/

Yes, we specialize is unique, high quality, reasonably priced wines.  We have all the staples as well, but until now, refused to handle any box wines.  Cuvee de Pena has broken all the rules as it now offers it's fabulous red wine in a sharp looking 3L box.

Hand Picked Wines says it is "not only friendly, maybe the world's most versatile wine.  Just try to find a food it doesn't work with!  In warm weather, stick it in the fridge for a half an hour-it won't lose its aromas or flavors.

Robert Parker says it is the world's friendliest red wine!   The Wine spectator says its ripe, dark fruit dominates the medium, to full bodied red with lovely chocolate pudding notes and smokey accents on the finish.

We offer the traditional 750 ml bottle as well.  Just stop in the State Street Exchange and grab a box for yourself.  You will not be disappointed!

One of our favorite customers, Jim, is in the State Street Exchange often to enjoy our wine tastings and was looking for a specific type of whiskey.  He had been hoping for the Parker's Heritage from Heaven Hill Distillery.  The point is, it is not very common and we were happy to make it available to you as well.  According to Jim, this delightful whiskey, named after the master distiller at Heaven Hill, Parker Beam, is heads and shoulders above any other whiskey on the shelf.  With hints of vanilla, oak and a bit of carmel, it is incredibly smooth.  Come in and try this one for yourself!  $72.99
